For those of you who are tired of my jabbering on about Glee, let’s take a quick second to talk about The Office.
I have been a fan of The Office for almost as long as it’s been on the air. In college I had all my friends over for an Office night. I have recruited even the most adamant Office opposer to fandom. I have seen pretty much every episode of most of the seasons multiple times and I kick ass in The Office boardgame I have. All that being said, this season has sucked. A lot.
Of course, Jim and Pam’s wedding and the birth of their baby were the best episodes we’ve gotten in a long time, but other than that, there really is only a handful that have been good. I mean a clip show, REALLY?!? Doesn’t the very fact of airing a clip show go against everything The Office is supposed to stand for? But I digress;
Last night’s episode was good. Everything in it was a call back to Season 2 and 3. The story lines were funny and Michael’s extreme social awkwardness, that has been a bit out of control this season, was toned down to the Michael we all love and have come to expect; that is, the Michael that majorly screws up a situation that doesn’t involve him.
It was nice to see the newcomers get more face time and that the supporting cast got a major story line, ie.) the Oscar-made video of Kevin as the Cookie Monster and everyone reacting to it. All in all this episode made me laugh, which lately I haven’t been doing while watching this show and I hate to admit that because I really am a devoted Office fan. Hopefully this is just the phase in The Office life cycle where a season kind of sucks. Every show that’s been on the air as long as The Office has been goes through this phase. I just hope that The Office can maintain a good episode like this for longer than one week.
